(*exact words copied from will*) *****This eight day of the fifth month in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Five, I Archilus Standley of Surry county and state of North Caroline being in my sound senses and memory do make this my last will and testamony touching such wordly estate as I am possessed of in the following manner. (1)First it is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid out of my personal estate. (2)2ndly I give to my beloved wife Martha Standley one half of all the cattle and hogs, I have and all the artivles that she brought with her when we came together and one half of the meadow and ten acres cleared land and house where I now live,during her widowhood and one half of all that we have gained sice we came together. (3)3rdly I give to my daughter Agnes Standley the use of all my land during her and her husbands life time without question or control. Then it is my will and desire that it should be equally divided between her two sons Elijah and Archilus Standley. (4)4thly I give to my son Jesse Standley one saddle that I now have and one cow and one riffle gun that I lent him and all my wearing clothes. I give to my daughter Agnes Standley all the remaining part of my estate of every kind not here to fore mentioned or other ways disposed of. Lastly I appoint my two friends James Standley and William Johnson to by my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testiment utterly making void all former wills that have been made and shall appear in my confirming this and no other to be my last will and testiment.
